Everything you need to know about switching to tallow.

Tallow Beauty Balm

1. About Tallow Balm

Does it smell bad? I'm afraid it will smell.
The beef tallow we use is grassfed, high-quality and triple rendered so it is odourless when applied to skin. Any slight scent disappears within minutes as it absorbs. If you want your tallow balm to have a scent, we have 3 options with essential oils.
Why halal tallow?
Most tallow has no guarantee of how the animal was raised, handled, or processed. Halal changes that. The halal slaughter process includes thorough blood drainage, which means cleaner, purer fat with less risk of contamination or spoilage. The animals are humanely raised, grass-fed, and free from hormones, antibiotics, and harmful additives. That directly affects the quality of what ends up on your skin. For Muslims, it also means zero compromise, no alcohol, no pork derivatives, no haram ingredients.
What is the shelf life?
Our tallow balm has a shelf life of 12 months. To get the most out of it, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid getting water in the jar, use a clean finger or spatula to scoop it out.
Is it safe for babies and kids?
Yes! Tallow is actually one of the most gentle, skin-compatible ingredients you can use on little ones. Because it's free from synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and harsh chemicals, it's ideal for sensitive baby skin. We recommend our unscented formula for babies and children, and always do a small patch test first.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Tallow balm is completely safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. It's free from synthetic chemicals and harsh additives, just pure, natural ingredients your skin loves. Many pregnant women use it for belly skin, stretch marks, and general dryness. As always, we recommend the unscented version during pregnancy to be safe.

2. Skin Types & Concerns

Does tallow clog pores?
Tallow has a comedogenic rating of 2 out of 5, meaning it's actually LESS pore-clogging than coconut oil or cocoa butter. It won't cause breakouts; instead, it helps BALANCE your skin's oil production because its composition is nearly identical to human sebum.
Will my skin have a purging phase?
Some people experience a 1-3 week 'purge' period as your skin adjusts and pushes out buildup from previous synthetic products. This is actually a GOOD sign, your skin is detoxing! The purge typically lasts 1-3 weeks max. Push through it and you'll see the glow everyone's talking about. Pro tip: Start using it every other night to ease your skin into it.
Is it good for oily skin? Won't it make me more oily?
YES, tallow is great for oily skin. This seems counterintuitive, but listen: Oily skin is often oily BECAUSE it's dehydrated, your skin overproduces oil trying to compensate for lack of moisture. Tallow is non-comedogenic and actually helps BALANCE sebum production. It's packed with CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) which has anti-inflammatory properties perfect for acne.
Is this good for acne prone skin?
Yes. Tallow contains CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), a natural anti-inflammatory that helps calm redness and irritation from breakouts. It also has a comedogenic rating of just 2 out of 5, so it won't clog your pores the way heavier moisturizers do. Most acne-prone users say it's the first thing that's ever actually worked long-term.
Is it good for dry skin and textured skin?
Tallow is amazing for textured skin! It contains palmitic and stearic acids that deeply moisturize, plus vitamins A, D, E, and K that repair your skin barrier. Unlike water-based moisturizers that sit on top, tallow PENETRATES DEEPLY because your skin recognizes it as bio-identical to your own sebum.
My skin is so dry, can tallow help?
Absolutely! Tallow's fat composition is 50-55% saturated fats, almost identical to healthy human skin. This means it doesn't just sit on top, it actually REPAIRS your moisture barrier. You'll notice softer, smoother skin within days. Customer testimonial: 'My skin feels like baby skin!'
My dermatologist says tallow is bad, what's the verdict?
Here's why there's confusion: Most dermatologists are trained to recommend synthetic products from big skincare companies, that's what they learned in school and what pharmaceutical reps push. But here's the science they're missing: Tallow's fatty acid profile is nearly IDENTICAL to human sebum (50-55% saturated fats, rich in vitamins A, D, E, K). Our great-grandmothers used it for centuries. Your skin recognizes tallow as something familiar, not foreign chemicals.

3. Usage & Application

In what order do I apply it with my other skincare?
1. Cleanse 2. Toner (if using) 3. Water-based serums (if using) 4. Tallow as your final step - it seals everything in! Think of tallow as your moisture-locking layer.
Can it be worn under makeup without washing it off?
YES! Apply tallow 5-10 minutes before makeup on damp skin. Use a small amount and pat it in, it creates the PERFECT smooth base. Real customer: 'I use it before my makeup and now it doesn't look dry and flaky.' It actually makes makeup apply BETTER!
Can I wear it to bed without washing my pillows?
Absolutely! It absorbs within 15-20 minutes, so no need to worry about pillows. Pro tip: Apply generously at night for that 'woke up glowing' effect. Real customer: 'Beef tallow before bed. The glow in the morning is unreal.'
How much should I use?
Less is more! Start with a pea-sized amount for your entire face. Warm it between your palms, then press and pat (don't rub) into damp skin. You can always add more, but most people use too much at first. A little goes a long way.

Magnesium Lotion

4. About Magnesium Lotion

What does magnesium lotion actually do?
Magnesium is one of the most essential minerals in your body, it's involved in over 300 functions including muscle recovery, sleep, stress regulation, and energy. Most people are deficient without even knowing it. Applying it topically lets your skin absorb it directly, bypassing the digestive system entirely. You'll notice the difference in how you sleep, how your muscles feel, and your overall sense of calm.
How is lotion different from magnesium spray or oil?
The lotion is a gentler formula, but the effects are just as great. The magnesium is blended with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and oils, so it absorbs smoothly, hydrates your skin at the same time, and is much better tolerated for everyday use and sensitive skin.
Does it replace oral magnesium supplements?
It can for many people, especially those who experience digestive discomfort from oral magnesium (which is common). Others use both together. The lotion is a great option if you have a sensitive stomach or simply prefer a topical routine.

5. Application & Results

Where should I apply it?
Apply it anywhere on your body, arms, legs, stomach, back, feet. For sleep and relaxation, the feet and calves work especially well. For muscle soreness, apply directly to the area of tension. Avoid broken, sunburned, or irritated skin as it may sting.
Can I use it on my face?
We recommend sticking to the body. Avoid applying near the eyes, nose, or mouth as it can cause irritation to sensitive areas.
What's the best time to apply it?
After a shower is ideal, your pores are open and damp skin absorbs it better. At night before bed is the most popular time since magnesium naturally supports relaxation and sleep quality.
Why does it tingle or itch when I apply it?
This is completely normal and not an allergic reaction, magnesium is already naturally found in your body. The tingling is actually a sign that your body is deficient and absorbing it quickly. The sensation decreases with regular use and usually disappears within 1-2 weeks as your magnesium levels build up. To minimize it, apply to damp skin after a shower and start with a small amount.
How long until I notice results?
Most people feel some relaxation within 10-20 minutes of the first application. For deeper, lasting results, better sleep, reduced muscle tension, less stress, consistency is key. Most people notice a real difference within 1-4 weeks of daily use, depending on how deficient they were to start.

6. Safety & Usage

Can I use it every day?
Yes, and you should! Daily use, ideally after a shower on damp skin, is the best way to maintain healthy magnesium levels. You can apply it morning or night depending on your goals (night is great for sleep support).
Can I use too much? Is it possible to overdose?
No. You cannot overdose on transdermal (topical) magnesium. Overdose limits only apply to oral magnesium supplements, which can cause digestive issues in large doses. When applied to the skin, your body simply absorbs what it needs and eliminates the rest.
Is it safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes. Magnesium lotion is safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Many pregnant women use it to relieve leg cramps, muscle tension, and sleep issues, all common during pregnancy.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes, for children over 12 months. Use a small amount and apply gently to the calves or feet at bedtime. It's great for kids who experience growing pains or have trouble settling down for sleep.
